Barbara J. Richter

OREGON – Barbara J. Richter, age 80, of Oregon, formerly of Lancaster, passed away on October 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on September 13, 1944, the daughter of Dorman and Modesta (Adams) Scott. Barbara spent many years working for Madison Newspaper Company. She loved gardening and photography, capturing the beauty of her flowers and her family. Barbara raised four children and supported them through every event and carried that on to her grandchildren. Her favorite times were when her whole family was together no matter the occasion. She was a devoted Catholic to multiple churches in her area.

She is survived by her children: Lisa, Daron (Kelly), Wayne (Jaime), and Brian (Kristine) Richter; grandchildren: Sara, Hailey, Alex, Rachel, and Braydon Richter; and her “neighborhood family.”

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dorman and Modesta; sister, Shirley Murphy; and brother, Robert Scott.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. Burial will be held at St. Clement Catholic Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the mass at the church. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is assisting the family.
