Barbara Brooker

Barbara A. Brooker, age 83, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at Grant Regional Health Center in Lancaster. She was born on February 14, 1930, in Lancaster, the daughter of Lloyd and Kathryn Brooker. Barb graduated from Lancaster High School in 1947. She attended Milwaukee Downer College where she graduated with a degree in Occupational Therapy. Barb worked in Philadelphia, Indianapolis and Chicago. She returned to Lancaster in the 1970s where she worked for Orchard Manor Nursing Home for many years. Barb also worked for the Lancaster School district until her retirement. She was an avid crafter. Barb spent numerous hours knitting, copper tooling, leather work, needlepoint, and almost any craft available to her. She was also an avid reader.

Survivors include her sister, Dorothy Chadd, Lancaster; nieces and nephews: Jeff Crawford, Gainesville, GA; Jo Ellen (John) Northouse, Bagley; Linda (David) Looper, Gainesville, GA; and Michael (Kelly) Chadd, Lancaster; two great-nieces and one great-nephew: Amy Northouse, David and Carly Chadd; other relatives and many friends.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 20, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home Chapel in Lancaster with Kris Noble officiating. Private family burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the nursing home. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
