LANCASTER – Austin L. Wiest, age 23, of Lancaster, died unexpectedly on Friday, January 5, 2024. He was born on March 1, 2000. Austin graduated from Lancaster High School in 2018. He was employed with Advanced Drilling in Dubuque, IA, and was about to embark on a new employment adventure and was looking forward to getting his CDL. Austin loved fishing, his cat, Chubs, cars (but only if they were manufactured by Dodge), video games, and hanging out with his friends. Austin was known for his great sense of humor and his ability to make everyone laugh. He had a warm, caring heart and was loved so deeply by everyone who knew him. His infectious smile and silly laugh will be greatly missed!
Survivors include his mother: Sierra (Aaron) Sanger; his siblings: Brady, Heath, Arthur, Meryl Bella & Zeppelin; his Grandparents: Tilmer E. Thompson (Sherry Halverson), Melissa (Dale) Hackett, Dan (Linda) Wiest: his great Grandmothers: Donna Hamilton & Nancy Thompson, and many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him dearly. He is also survived by some really great friends; Draven Holzer, Kaden Colson, Austin "Carl" Peterson, Hillery Pink and his second mom, Angela Jerale.
In addition to his biological father, Jeremy Wiest, Austin was preceded in death by his sister Elizabeth, his great grandfathers: Tilmer A. Thompson & John Hamilton, and his cousin Samuel Bauer.
Family and friends may visit on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster. A private family burial will be held at a later date.
