Arthur C. Larkin, age 84, of Lancaster, died on Wednesday, October 7, 2009, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster. He was born on July 6, 1925, in Jamestown, New York, the son of Joseph and Violet (Chisholm) Larkin. In 1943, he graduated from Lakewood High School in New York. Arthur enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp and was honorably discharged at the end of World War II. On August 24, 1946, he was united in marriage to Margery F. Willis at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. Arthur was employed with the Bailey Oil Company and later, Farmers Telephone Company. Arthur was a member of the Congregational Church in Lancaster, where he served as a church officer, the Warrens Lodge No. 4 of Potosi, the Richard Burns American Legion Post No. 109 of Lancaster and was a former member of the Lancaster Jaycees. He enjoyed golfing, gardening, and needlepoint. Arthur was an avid Wisconsin Badger fan, holding season tickets since the 1960s.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Margery on June 13, 2005.
Survivors include his two daughters: Sue (Helmut) Bolk, Delafield and Margee (Matt) Bagley, Platteville; four grandchildren: Bryan Bolk, Tami Bolk, Andrea Neis, and Celia Neis; other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 10, 2009, at 2:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster with Rev. Mark Dieter officiating. Burial with military honors was held in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Friends may call on Saturday, October 10, 2009, from 11:00 am. until time of services at the funeral home. A Masonic service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday at Schwartz Funeral Home. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be offered to the Platteville Special Olympics and the Lancaster Congregational Church.
