Arlene E. Wieland

Arlene Elizabeth Wieland, age 91, passed away peacefully at the Southwest Health Center of natural causes with family at her side on Monday, December 29, 2014. She was born on November 18, 1923, to Earl and Bertha (Dival) Jerrett in the township of North Lancaster. Arlene married Virgil "Bud" Wieland on September 12, 1941. Together they ran a beef and hog farm in Lancaster until 1986 when Bud passed away.

Arlene was a quiet, caring lady who accepted everyone. Her wonderful pies were enjoyed at every family gathering. Arlene's life was devoted to caring and providing for her family, helping on the farm, and supporting Bud while he participated on numerous Boards of Directors and committees. She enjoyed crocheting and word find puzzles. Arlene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster and a volunteer at the Lancaster Thrift Shop.

Survivors include her six children: Larry (Judy) Wieland, Lodi; Denny (Diane) Wieland, Peosta, IA; Marcia (Gary) Olson, Platteville; Dick Wieland, LaCrosse; Sharon (Larry) Pink, Platteville; Bill Wieland, Milwaukee; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lila Jerrett, Lancaster; Arlene Roesch, Lancaster; Dolores (Don) Metcalf, Cassville; and many nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband, Virgil "Bud" Wieland; her three brothers: Earl "Junior" (Edna) Jerrett; Stanley "Buck" Jerrett, and Donnie Jerrett; a grandson, Craig Wieland.

Funeral services to honor the life of Arlene were on Saturday, January 3, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster with Pastor Mark Hoehne officiating. Burial was in Hurricane Cemetery, South Lancaster Township. Family and friends called on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In honor of Arlene, memorials may be made to the Grant County Cancer Coalition. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is serving the family.
