Arlene A. Wieland, 75 of Burton, passed away peacefully Monday April 30, 2018, at her home. She was born February 17, 1943, the daughter of Clinton and Edith (Fritz) Russell. Arlene graduated from Lancaster High School in 1960. She was united into marriage to Norbert F."Norb" Wieland on December 11, 1960 at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. Arlene was employed at the Lancaster Care Center for over 40 years. She began her career as a CNA, then went to the housekeeping department, and later became housekeeping supervisor, retiring in 2005. Arlene was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burton. She enjoyed bird watching, flowers, gardening, her pets and watching NASCAR. She dearly loved her family, especially caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving is her husband Norb, their children; Michelle "Shelly" (Jim) Schmitz, Michael "Mike", Curt (Sheila), and Chad (Stephanie) Wieland; 12 grandchildren; Eric (Holly), Dusty (Mary Jo), Jesse (Cassie), and Jake (Kari) Schmitz, Marissa Wieland, Sam (Don) Clauer, Alex (Jason) Taylor, McKenzie and Jaden Wieland, Erica Neith, Trevor and Austin Wieland. 11 great grandchildren, a brother in law, Denny Stluka, an aunt Wilma Russell, her black lab, Cutler, many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Arlene was preceded in death by her sisters; Dolores "Toddy" Ames, Bonnie Stluka, a brother Larry,
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 4, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Burton, with Pastor Dave Froemming officiating. Burial will be in the Burton Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 3, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster, and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Arlene A. Wieland memorial fund has been established.
