Anne M. Siepker, age 72, of McHenry, IL and a recent resident of Alden Terrace Nursing Home, Long Grove ,IL, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL.

She was born March 4,1939 in Potosi, WI. daughter of Edward and Lucille (Roser) Siepker.

Anne graduated from McHenry High School and received her BA from San Francisco State and her Masters degree from Northern Illinois University. She had a distinguished teaching career that began at Zion Benton High School, but culminated after more than 32 years in High School District 155, where she served as Social Studies Department Chair at Cary-Grove High School until her retirement in June of 1994.

Anne was an avid reader, well known for marking significant parts of books for her colleagues to read when they were too busy to read the whole book. She used these tidbits to spark her students interest in American history, but the course she truly loved teaching was the senior elective, Problems of Democracy, where she made it her mission to get students ready to vote and be active in their communities.

She is survived by her brother Carl Siepker, of Granger, IN; her sister Elizabeth Breitbach, of Dubuque, IA.; 11 nieces and nephews; and 9 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Edward; a sister, Isabelle Langmeier; a niece, Lisa Langmeier; and a nephew, Richard Siepker.

Family and friends were cordially invited to attend graveside services to be held Saturday September 3, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery, Tennyson with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Martin Funeral Home of Potosi is assisting the family.
