Anna M. Nix, age 89, of Lancaster, died on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at her residence in Lancaster. She was born on June 25, 1921, in Potosi, the daughter of F. Edward and Mary Ann (Schneider) Hoffman. On April 5, 1941, she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Nix in Potosi. Anna worked at Kamms Locker Plant and many years at Lancaster Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed her family first and foremost, and filled many hours reading and watching birds and squirrels.
Survivors include her children: Leon (Janet) Nix, Lancaster; Mary Ann (Robert) Ganfield, Cascade, IA; Loren (Connie) Nix, Terry (Nancy) Nix, all of Lancaster; Cinda (Mike) Furry, Platteville; eleven grandchildren: Eva (David) Sebesta, David (Amy Gotzinger) Nix, Barbara (Bronson) Cunningham, Betty (Jared) Tilleraas, Shane (Tara) Nix, Wyatt (Deb) Nix, Emily Nix, Jason (Michelle Lamore) Nix, Brandon (Emily) Nix, Amy (Kris) Kreul, Andy (Amy) Pennekamp; fourteen great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee, on December 10, 1977, one brother, Samuel, two sisters, Josephine Rux and Luella Olson, and a son-in-law, Roger Pennekamp.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, March 17, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at the Lancaster United Methodist Church with Pastor Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Wednesday, March 16, 2011, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster and on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church.
