Anita Moon, age 94, passed away Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, rural Lancaster. She was born Mary Anita McWilliams, the daughter of Michael and Emma (Sullivan) McWilliams on January 29, 1920 in New Diggings Township, Wisconsin. She grew up in the Shullsburg area, graduating from Shullsburg High School in 1938. Anita attended cosmetology school in Milwaukee, and received her license in 1939, and started her career in Lancaster. She married Corwin A. Moon on July 3, 1943 at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster. In 1950, Anita opened Your Beaute Salon, which she operated until March 2010. The closing of her beauty parlor marked 71 years as a Lancaster business owner and beautician. Anita was a devoted member of St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, the Altar Society and Catholic Daughters. She was known for her faith, friendliness, and willingness to make sacrifices for others, stating that It would kill me to stay angry at anyone.
Surviving is a son Reverend Michael Moon of Bellville, and many nieces and nephews of the Mc Williams family.
She was preceded in death by her husband Corwin in 1986, who was a Lancaster barber for many years. Her brother Cecil McWilliams, sister in law Eileen (Don) McWilliams-Pluemer, and a great- great niece, McKenna.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, with Fr. Michael Moon officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Friends called on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Schwartz Funeral Home in Lancaster, where a 4:00 p.m. parish rosary will be prayed. Friends also called on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster, or St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church P.O. box 349, Bellville, WI, 53508.
