Ambrose Adam Mumm, age 82, of Cassville, WI, passed away September 7, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Ambrose was born to Adam and Susan (Rauch) Mumm on September 25, 1932. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1953-1955. Ambrose married Geraldine Esser on September 17, 1957 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville. He worked at the Cassville Creamery and at Schauff and Kirschbaum Plumbing & Heating. On February 1, 1958, Ambrose and Gerry purchased a farm in rural Cassville, where they farmed until moving to Cassville in 1990.
He was an active member of St. Charles Catholic Church and the Mumm-Welsh American Legion Post 352, both of Cassville. Ambrose enjoyed fishing and playing cards, shooting pool, bowling and pitching horseshoes. He spent many hours putting jigsaw puzzles together. Ambrose liked making and sharing wine with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandkids.
Ambrose is survived by his wife, Gerry; his six sons, Jim (Sue) of Lancaster, Dan (Deanna) of Tomah, Jerry (Christy) of Cassville, Dean (Jenny) of Janesville, Al (Judy) of Lancaster, Pete (Lisa) of Platteville; 19 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his sisters Irene Smith and Bernice (Cecil) Anderson, special niece and nephew, Tim and Deb Mumm. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Pat E. Mumm and Germaine Mumm, and by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, John, Vince, Carl (Delores), Morrie, and Ken; and his sisters, Agnes (Edward) Moris, Mildred (James) Moris, and Florence (Elmer) Kohlstedt, and a brother in law, Red Smith.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at St. Charles Catholic Church in Cassville, with Fr. John Meinholz officiating. Burial with military honors was in St. Mary's Settlement Cemetery, Cassville. Family and friends called on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Martin Funeral Home in Cassville, where a 3:45 p.m. parish scripture service was held, and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
