Allen "Al" J. Klaas, age 67, of Lancaster, passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, at his home. He was born on August 18, 1949, in Lancaster the son of Aelred and Catherine (Washa) Klaas. Al graduated from Lancaster High School in 1967. After graduation, he farmed for many years and drove milk truck. On November 9, 1974, Al was united in marriage to Jane Foley. In 1991, he began his own construction business which he owned and operated for many years. Al also drove school bus for the Lancaster School District for several years, which he truly enjoyed. Al was very active in the Catholic Church and Religion. He was a member of St. Clement Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, served as a Grand Knight, and a Eucharistic Minister. Al loved playing softball, bean bags, cards and shooting pool. He also loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and his fiance, Patti.
Survivors include his four children: Brandon (Kessa) Klaas, Lancaster; Becky (Justin) Hampton, Beetown; Brad (Jessica) Klaas, Lancaster; Brianna (Shane) Reuter, Parker CO; 12 grandchildren: Kesandra, Kyla, Kaci, and Bentli Klaas; Haley, Whitney, and Owen Hampton; Ian, Blakely, and Kenly Klaas; Jaida and Michael Reuter; his mother, Catherine "Katy" (friend, Vern Kjos) Klaas, Fennimore; his fiance, Patti Sikhart, Appleton; his siblings: Sharon Klaas, Madison; Donna (Bob) Bukowski, Boise, ID; Sandy (Jim) LaMere, Fennimore; Mark (Therese) Klaas, Lancaster; Debra (Dee) Russell, East Dubuque, IL; Janet (Ron) Winkler, Deforest; Michelle Klaas, Boscobel; Steve Klaas, Lancaster; In-Laws: Helen Klaas, Livingston; Karen Foley, Fitchburg; Shelly Sterling, Fitchburg; Dave (Janice) Foley, Sun Prairie; Richard (Cathy) Foley, Watertown; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Al was preceded in death by his father, Aelred; his wife, Jane in 2011; and a brother, Donald.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, September 16, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church in Lancaster with Reverend Herbert Schmidt officiating. Burial was in St. Clement Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Thursday, September 15, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church where a 3:30 p.m. Knights of Columbus Prayer Service and Rosary was prayed. Friends also called on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. In lieu of plants and flowers, an Allen J. Klaas Memorial Fund has been established. Schwartz Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Lancaster is assisting the family.
