Alice M. "Grandma Tweety" Speth, 90, of Belmont, died Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Upland Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation in Dodgeville. Alice was born on December 9, 1924 on the family farm in Jo Daviess County, IL the daughter of Albert & Minnie (Gammelien) Holtz. Alice married Dick "Big Foot" Speth on January 22, 1943 at the church parsonage in Platteville. They lived all their married life in the Belmont area.
Alice was proud of her faith and enjoyed gardening, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, feeding and watching her birds, and spending time with her family and friends. She worked at the Cuba City Hospital and Nursing Home for 31 years.
Alice is survived by her children, Betty (Richard) Dellabella, Bill (Sara) Speth, Peggy (Butch) Bockhop, Phil (Sheri) Speth, Frank (Junerose) Speth, and Penny (Gary) Kies; 19 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick in 2000; her parents; four sisters; two brothers; and granddaughter, Ann Sambles.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at Peace Lutheran Church in Belmont, with Reverend Connie Matye officiating. Burial was in Belmont Cemetery. Friends called from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville, and one hour prior to the services Wednesday at the church.
