Alice P. Kerkenbush

Alice P. Kerkenbush, age 65, went to her eternal rest on Saturday, September 14, 2013, in her home, surrounded by her family and friends, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on December 14, 1947, in Hanover, IL, the daughter of Allan and Patricia (Drumm) Caya. She attended school in Bagley, WI, Galena, IL, and graduated from Potosi High School. She married Daniel Kerkenbush on June 17, 1967, at St Andrew's Catholic Church in Tennyson. She was employed at Mercy Medical Center as a messenger and a pharmacy technician. She was an extremely dedicated Potosi High School sports fan. Alice was an amazing cook, one of the biggest Chieftain fans, and enjoyed being the best grandma she could have ever been. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Alice is survived by her husband, Dan, her daughter, Geri Lynn (Scott) Leibfried, sons: Kevin, Troy (Stephanie), and Nick (Becky), her grandchildren: Brett, Jenna, Presley, Paige, Kaia, Jake, Luke, Ashley, Holly, and Noah; three sisters, Eileen (George) Kopp, Deirdre (Arlyn) Weber, and Kathleen (Mark) Steuck; her mother-in-law, Helen Kerkenbush; her brothers- and sisters-in-law: Joyce (Justin) Weber, Joe (Delores) Kerkenbush, Janet (Ken) Bode, Judy Winner, Joan (Dave) Klaas, and Jerry "Leo" (Tawna Dickey) Kerkenbush, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her father-in-law, Robert Kerkenbush, her siblings: Peter Caya and Mary Hodgson, and her brother-in-law, Bruce Kerkenbush.

Funeral services were at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Tennyson, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, with Father Richard Leffler officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Family and friends called on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. In lieu of plants and flowers an Alice P. Kerkenbush Memorial Fund has been established. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Potosi is serving the family.
