Alice Frye passed away Monday, February 15, 2010, at the Orchard Manor Nursing Home in Lancaster. Alice Marquerite Grunenwald was born on March 8, 1915, in Livingston, WI, and graduated from Livingston High School. Her first job was as office girl at the Grant County Farm and Asylum, where she met her husband, Frederick Lickel. They married in 1942and farmed south of Lancaster until his death in 1951. Alice married Earl Frye in 1960,who passed away later that year. Alice worked for the federal Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service for 28years. She was a member of Rebekah Lodge for 30 years, holding many offices including Grand Noble. Sheserved on the Grant Regional Hospital Auxiliary and United Methodist Women
s Ruth Circle. Alice was also a power walker in retirement and easily kept up with friends half her age.
In addition to her husbands, she is preceded in death by her brother, Harold Grunenwald and sister, Mildred Wepking.
She is survived by her sister, Marian Griswold, sons: Frederick (Pam) Lickel, Jr. of Madison, and Stanley Lickel of Lancaster, daughter Lois (Bill) Sherwin of Albany, fourgranddaughters and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 18, 2010, at 1:00 p.m. at Martin Funeral Home in Lancaster with Reverend Barbara Cook officiating. Burial was in Hillside Cemetery, Lancaster. Family and friends called on Thursday, February 18, 2010, from 12:00 noon until time of services. A Rebekah service was held at 1:00 p.m. conducted by the Lancaster Rebekah Lodge No. 167.
