Alice Fruit

Alice E. Fruit, 94, passed away on November 8, 2013, at Crest View Nursing Home, New Lisbon, WI. She was born on June 20, 1919, in Green Bay, WI, the daughter of Edward and Mattie (Preston) Fleck. Alice was united in marriage to Gordon C. Fruit on November 13, 1941, in Waukesha. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2009. Together they farmed for many years in Waukesha, Blanchardville, Reedsburg, and Marshall, WI.

She is survived by five children: Kay (Gary) Wilkins, Spring Hill, TN, Richard (Judi) Fruit, Necedah, Timothy (Penny) Fruit, Jefferson, Gary (Gloria) Fruit, Marshall, and Roger Fruit, Brookfield, MO; five grandchildren, Joshua (Theresa) Johnson, McFarland, Bryan (Irene) Fruit, Rock Springs, Sara Fruit, Reedsburg, Stephanie (Rich) Nachreiner, Madison, and Brandi (Mike) McNicol, Jefferson; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in law, Ethelda Loose, Clarendon, IL; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a grandson, Todd Fruit; sisters, Marie Gierach and Louise Koch; and brothers and sister-in-law Russell Wirth, Clarence Gierach, Hans Koch, Howard Loose, and Lorraine and Arnold Gapinski.

A memorial service was held at 1p.m. on Sunday, November 17, 2013, at the East Koshkonong Lutheran Church, 454 E. Church Rd., Cambridge, WI. Visitation began at 12 noon. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery in Platteville, WI, at a later date. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home in Platteville is assisting the family.
