Alice C. Budd

Alice C. Budd, age 94, of Cassville, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home, Lancaster, where she struggled with dementia and MS. She was born on February 20, 1926, the daughter of Clyde and Hazel (Hutchcroft) Clauer. She married Ruel F. Budd on April 21, 1943 and they were blessed with 5 children: Grant, Cheryl, Rhonda, Nettie and Ruel Brett.

Alice briefly waitressed and sold Avon for a while, but the profession she finally chose was to be a homemaker. They always put in a large garden and made trips to the apple orchards, so she was busy most of the summer helping to take care of the garden and doing lots of canning. Alice was an active member at the River Valley Community Church and had many friends there.

Surviving are her children, Grant Budd, Rhonda Walz, Nettie (Mark) Christensen and Ruel Brett (Sloba) Budd; also, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren; foster daughter, Rocelia (Guerdon) Fowler; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruel, daughter, Cheryl Reed, five brothers: Oscar, Clyde (Ike), Charles (Chuck), Lyle and Georgie Clauer; two sisters: Ellabelle Grattan and Ila Schramm.

This would not be her wishes, but during this difficult time due to the COVID-19, the services will be for immediate family only on Monday, May 18, 2020. Burial will be in Cassville Cemetery, Cassville. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Cassville is entrusted with her care.

If roses grow in heaven
Lord, please pick a bunch for us, Place them in our mother’s arms And tell her they’re from us.
Tell her we love and miss her, And when she turns to smile, Place a kiss upon her cheek And hold her for awhile.
Because remembering her is easy, We do it everyday, But there is an ache within our hearts, That will never go away.
