A. Frances Gifford, age 91, of Bagley, passed away Monday, July 15, 2013, at Orchard Manor Nursing Home. She was born August 28, 1920, the daughter of Richard and Sophia (Krejci) Freilinger. In 1938, Frances graduated from Portage High School. She met R. Keith Gifford at Longs Barn in Kaneville, IL, and they were united in marriage on October 18, 1941, at Our Lady of Good Council in Aurora, IL. After their marriage the couple farmed in Plano, IL. In 1976, they moved to Bagley and farmed. Frances was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, the Royal Neighbors, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She loved flowers, gardening, bird watching, fishing and hiking.
Survivors include her children: Pat (Mike) Casey; KarLen (Lenny) Heisz; Howard Gifford; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; two sisters: Edna Thorp and Joan Zeier.
In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband in 1989; a son, John Gifford; a grandson, Brett Hafke and a brother, Peter Freilinger.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bloomington with Father John Meinholz officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bloomington. Family and friends called on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church. Martin Funeral Home & Cremation Services in Bloomington is serving the family.
