Gustav K. "Gus" Klug, age 83, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at Lancaster Health Services, after an extended illness. He was born on December 27, 1936, in Wirballen, Lithuania, the son of Gustav and Johanna (Bonacker) Klug. In 1952, Gus moved to Cassville with his family. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957 and served his county until his honorable discharge in 1961. On July 16, 1962, Gus was united in marriage to Patricia Gates. Following his military service, Gus was employed at Alcoa in Bettendorf, IA. He later worked for Wisconsin Power and Light from 1962 until his retirement in 1995. In 1974, Gus and Patricia purchased the Gates family farm. He continued to farm throughout his employment. Gus enjoyed woodworking and watching sports. He dearly loved spending time with his granddaughters and attending their sporting events.
Survivors include his loving wife, Patricia; their children: Bill (Sandy) Klug; Connie (Joey) Jemison; granddaughters: Allison and Kaitlin Klug; his brothers-in-law: Walter Mattes and Bill Gates; sister-in-law, Mary McLawhorn; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Gustav was preceded in death by his siblings: Helmut and Hilda.
Private family grave side services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at Hillside Cemetery with Reverend David Froemming officiating. Martin Schwartz Funeral Home & Crematory in Lancaster is entrusted with his care.
